Egmont to Publish Captivating New Books from Louise Greig

Egmont Publishing are delighted to announce that in 2018 we will publish two new picture books from author Louise Greig.

Between Tick and Tock reunites Greig with the illustrator of The Night Box, Ashling Lindsay, and will be published on 31 May 2018. Sweep will be illustrated by Júlia Sardà and will be published on 27 July 2018.

Between Tick and Tock Louise Greig Ashling LindsayBetween Tick and Tock is an enchanting story about a little girl who can pause time to carry out acts of kindness and breathe colour, life and happiness back into the city.

Louise Greig’s lyrical storytelling highlights the magic in everyday experiences and is accompanied by Ashling Lindsay’s gorgeous illustrations.

This is the second picture book from Louise Greig and Ashling Lindsay. Their first book, The Night Box, has been translated into 10 languages and is nominated for the 2018 Kate Greenaway Award.

Melissa Fairley, Egmont Publishing Director for Picture Book and Gift, said ‘Louise Greig creates magical stories that are rooted in experiences children can relate to. This new story is a wonderful, uplifting picture book, beautifully brought to life by illustrator Ashling Lindsay.’

Sweep by Louise Greig and Júlia SardàSweep is an uplifting story about confronting big emotions. Ed is in a bad mood and it’s not the kind that blows over before it began, like a tiny whirlwind in a teacup.

As Ed’s bad mood grows and grows, it sweeps over him like a raging storm. And as it does he begins to sweep up everything in his path. But then, a change comes.

Louise Greig’s tale is brought vividly to life with illustrations from incredible new artist Júlia Sardà.

Rebecca Essilifie, Art Director at Egmont, said ‘Júlia Sardà is an exceptional artist and I was very keen to sign her to our exciting picture book list – paired with Louise Greig, we have a distinctive and ingenious collaboration that makes Sweep a real standout book for children.’

Louise Greig is an award-winning poet and a children’s picture book author with a unique, lyrical voice. Louise lives in Aberdeen and when not writing is a director of a dog rescue and re-homing organisation. The wild solitude of Scotland and the beauty of nature remain strong influences in her life.

Ashling Lindsay is an illustrator and animation director from Belfast. She was shortlisted for the AOI Illustration Awards two years running (2013 & 2014) and was also shortlisted for the AOI Serco prize for illustration (2015).

Júlia Sardà is an illustrator from Barcelona who started working as colourist in a studio which made the editorial merchandising for Disney/Pixar. Ranging from concept art for video games to children’s illustration, Júlia has had the chance to illustrate some everlasting classics such as Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz and has illustrated some stunning fiction covers including the cover of Beetle Boy.

Both titles will publish on Egmont’s Picture Book and Gift list. Melissa Fairley, Publishing Director for Picture Book and Gift, signed the deal for world rights for Between Tick and Tock with Louise Greig and Arabella Stein at the Bright Agency. The deal for world rights for Sweep was signed with Louise Greig and Amy Kitcherside at Pickled Ink.
