Egmont Books swoops in with deal for Nickelodeon’s crime-fighting pigeon series

Flying to the UK in an exciting three-book deal with Egmont Books comes the bestselling and hilarious children’s series from Australia: Real Pigeons, written by Andrew McDonald and illustrated by Ben Wood. Lindsey Heaven, Publishing Director for Fiction, signed the deal for UK & Commonwealth rights with Charlotte Bodman at Rights People, acting on behalf of Hardie Grant Egmont. Real Pigeons Fight Crime, the first book in the series, will be published in April 2021 in paperback and ebook.

The serieswill also be hitting screens everywhere after Nickelodeon struck a multiplatform deal with James Corden and Ben Winston, and their production company Fulwell 73, to produce an animated movie and TV series based on the books. Both the movie and TV series are being developed to air on all Nickelodeon platforms.

Hilarious, highly illustrated and superbly silly, Real Pigeons invites both reluctant and keen readers, and is perfect for readers aged 6+ and fans of Dogman, Pamela Butchart and Narwhal and Jelly.

Alongside the Nickelodeon series, readers can also sign up to the Super Coo Club – a brilliant lockdown resource for young readers containing, live drawing sessions, videos and storytelling with author Andrew McDonald and illustrator Ben Wood.

Lindsey Heaven, Egmont Books’ Publishing Director for Fiction, said: Real Pigeons has been such a massive hit in Australia and we can’t wait for our feathered crime-fighting friends to fly round the other side of the world and win over all the young readers here in the UK. We’re delighted that the major streaming deal with Nickelodeon means that millions of children have another way to immerse themselves in this hilariously addictive world.’
